Animal Minecraft Skins

Animal skins split into two kinds, and it is worth knowing which you want. Full-creature skins turn the whole player model into the animal, which reads well for blocky subjects like cats and bears but awkwardly for long-bodied ones. Hybrid skins keep a human body and add ears, a tail and markings — these work on every animal and are the more common choice here.

The ears on a hybrid skin are drawn on the hat layer, the overlay that sits one pixel out from the head. That is also why ears sometimes disappear in older skin viewers that ignore the second layer.
